BNZ sponsored a cricket event, but not a team or any of the players.
What seemed a problem was a huge plus. We created a campaign around two fictional groundsmen at NZ's biggest cricket park: the old crusty one and the young cheeky one. It ran for years.
Our MD even convinced the TV channel broadcasting the event to turn over all its scheduled 15 second teaser spots to us to 'let us do the production' for them'. That was a coup which allowed our client to brand a huge number of spots they didn't have to pay for.
Along the way it won Best TV campaign at NZ's premier award show, Axis, and was rewarded at Clio, NY Festivals, and various other shows.
